Dog training quote comparison calculator

Put two written program quotes into the same line-by-line worksheet. Fetch Compass supplies no training prices, does not infer a program plan, does not use trainer-profile prices and does not change values by city.

Line up Quote A and Quote B

For per-session or per-week pricing, set the quantity to the written number of sessions or weeks. The worksheet multiplies each quantity by the per-unit amount you enter.

Budget line Sessions / weeks / qty Quote A / unit Quote B / unit Billing unit

Copy the written program price. If the quote is priced per session or per week, set the quantity to the written number of sessions or weeks so the worksheet multiplies correctly.

Some trainers bill the first evaluation separately; others fold it into the program. Leave the amount empty when the written quote includes it.

List only gear the written program requires - a leash, long line, crate, or an e-collar if the program uses one - at the price stated in the quote.

In-home programs may bill travel per visit or by distance. Copy the written unit and set the quantity to the number of billed visits.

For board-and-train programs, record boarding, food or handling add-ons exactly as written when they are billed on top of the base price.

Record only follow-up or refresher sessions the written quote prices. Some programs include them; others bill each one separately.

Compare trainer profiles

Arithmetic from user-entered values only, not a price estimate and not training, behavioral, veterinary or financial advice. The written agreement with the trainer determines program scope and final charges.

Compare the same program scope

  • □ Program base price and number of sessions or weeks
  • □ Initial evaluation or consultation fee
  • □ Equipment the trainer requires
  • □ Travel or in-home visit fees
  • □ Boarding add-ons for board-and-train
  • □ Follow-up or refresher sessions

The cost planning guide explains each comparison field.

Use published ranges, not a city multiplier

Fetch Compass does not estimate a city premium. For published nationwide ranges from named guides, use the dog training cost index, then compare local written quotes using the same program scope and billing units. Board-and-train quotes bundle training and boarding differently - the board-and-train guide explains what a written program should itemize.

Sources, method and limitations

Fetch Compass supplies no default training prices. Enter amounts only from current written quotes and keep each quote's billing units, inclusions and exclusions attached to the number. The worksheet performs user-entered arithmetic; it is not a quote, price estimate, market average or training recommendation.

The AVSAB humane dog training position statement supports professional-standards context, and the CCPDT lets you verify a trainer's certification. Neither source supplies training prices to this worksheet. For sourced market and certification figures, see dog training statistics.

Calculator FAQ

Which rows should appear in a complete dog training quote?

Look for the program base price with the number of sessions or weeks it covers, any initial evaluation or consultation fee, equipment the trainer requires, travel or in-home visit fees, boarding add-ons for board-and-train programs, and follow-up or refresher sessions. Any of these may be included, unnecessary or separately billed.

Where do the calculator amounts come from?

Only from you. Fetch Compass supplies no default training amounts. Copy each figure from a current written quote and use the same billing unit in both quote columns.

Does this calculator adjust the price for my city?

No. Fetch Compass does not have an observed city-level trainer-price dataset and does not apply a geographic multiplier. The dog training cost index lists published nationwide ranges from named guides, which you can read in context before comparing local written quotes.

Should I add every possible line?

No. Enter an evaluation, equipment, travel, boarding or follow-up fee only when it appears in the written program scope. The trainer defines the program structure in the written quote; the worksheet only compares what is written.

How should I enter a discount or package credit?

Enter only a discount or credit shown in the current written quote. Verbal offers and promotions can change before you sign, so the result is a planning scenario rather than a guaranteed final charge.

Do the linked sources supply the numbers in this worksheet?

No. The AVSAB position statement provides professional-standards context and the CCPDT provides certification verification. The cost index lists published nationwide ranges. The worksheet contains only values you enter from written quotes.
